Pop of blue
Wednesday November 27, 2013
I am definitely digging my shades of grey with a pop of blue. Usually when I have an eye shadow palette there are some shadows that get more love than others. However, trying this NYX La Dolce Vita 5 shade palette today and playing around with color placement, I found it easy to use them all.
Steps: Use a primer to maximize your eye shadow pigment. Apply the off white shadow as a base from lower lid to brow. Apply the matte grey and work into crease and outer v then use the shiny grey and do the same. Apply the dark blue under the lower lash line and use the brighter shade of blue on top. Line your upper lid with a blue eyeliner pencil and coat both your top and bottom lashes with mascara.
Mascara recommendation: NYX Cosmetics Doll Eye volume formula in black.
Eenie Meenie Miney….Mo!

Majority of women use their eyes as a judgment call on picking a foundation color. I can’t express to you how I’ve encountered a situation where my client/s visited my counter, picked a shade from the testers, and said it was right. OR they tested a color on their inner wrist. Please don’t do that! That concept is wrong by three main things 1) Sun exposure. 2) Most foundations oxidize. 3) Pigment on the face and inner wrists are not the same. So before you make that judgment call by just using your eyes or inner wrist, I want you to read and apply my technique to your next purchase.
Take three shades that you think may be a close match to your skin (light, medium, and dark.) Or have the cosmetic gal assist you. Stripe each shade (on the side of your face that is exposed to sun while driving) on your jaw line down the neck. The reason being of taking the product down the neck line is because of sun exposure, the color of your face and neck can slightly be off. Let the foundation settle for about a minute. By then you should be able to do a process of elimination and tell which shade “disappeared/matched” with your skin tone.
**Tip** If you are at a retail store where there is someone to assist you in the cosmetic department, have the employee take a hand mirror and walk you out of the store. The two of you can see the foundation shade in natural lighting and that is the best way to find the perfect shade.
SHADES OF RED
Thursday November 14, 2013
These are my favorite YSL lipsticks. 3 shades of the perfect red and great for the holiday season! From left to right: Rouge Volupte #17, Rouge Volupte Perle #111, Rouge Pur Couture #35 ….The Rouge Volupte #17 is a beautiful blue undertone shade of red. The difference in formulas: Volupte is creamy, silky, soft and full coverage. Rouge Pur is longer lasting, high pigment with a slight matte finish. Put one of these in your cosmetic wardrobe. <3
Who needs falsies?
Thursday November 14, 2013
This is my new favorite mascara! I went to a wedding over the weekend and did not want to wear falsies, so I needed mascara with volume, separation, and length. I layered the product about three times for that extra ohh lala and this NYX cosmetics doll eye mascara is amazing! No smudge, no flakes, no touch ups, and easily washes off.
**Yawn** its bedtime and here is a quick night review… I tried the studio 35 beauty eye make-up remover that claims to be “safe and gentle” and it burns my eyeballs. Nothing beats the YSL eye makeup remover but it is so darn expensive… I love the Clean & Clear exfoliating face scrub because of the cool and tingling feel. It is definitely a refreshing face wash and oil free so it works with all skin types and is gentle enough to use daily. (Men will love it after a workout or when showering kinda has that tea tree shampoo sensation if you know what I’m talking about.) Night Night <3
Marciano Fashion Show at The Grove
Tuesday November 12, 2013
It was a great pleasure getting to work for NYX Cosmetics for the Marciano fashion show! The event took place during Los Angeles fashion week last month. Such Beautiful ladies and stunning outfits!

How to achieve the Ombre Lipstick? I like to start off with applying my foundation on my lips as a base for the lipstick pigment to adhere to for longer wear. When it comes to darker lip shades it is all about layering. After you’ve covered your lips with foundation, apply your lipstick, blot lips with a tissue, and apply another layer of lipstick. Using a black lip liner or eye-liner line your lips, you will want to create a thick lip line (shown in photo) so there’s enough product to blend inward toward the center of your lips. Lastly, you want to use a lip brush or a concealer brush to blend (using short and quick brush strokes blend the liner toward the center of your lips.) You’ve got yourself the ombre look! Rawr!
Model Charlotte Coquelin is this week’s inspiration. I found her off of a blog entry at lefashionimage.blogspot.com. I was immediately attracted to the bare eyes, bold brows, and red ombre lips. I love the contouring and darkness this shot brings…

When contouring…remember not all faces are created equal. I’ve seen tons of different techniques out there and when it comes to my makeup techniques and looks, I like leaving myself still looking natural. I used the Touche Eclat #2 by Yves Saint Laurent as my highlighting tool. Not only does it come with the product in a tube and a brush applicator, I can use it for touch up throughout my day. For contouring, use eye-shadow! Yup! EYE-SHADOW. Makeup is all about being creative and less is more in my opinion. No need to purchase an additional product for this step. The winter months are right around the corner and that means our foundation color changes along with our bronzer shade. I know almost every lady out there owns some type of brown eye-shadow..So use it to contour (make sure it is a matte shade!) I used Bobbi Brown Cocoa 13 eye-shadow shown in this photo.
Useful tips when contouring: Use light brush strokes for a natural finish. It’ll be easier to blend as well. I also like to apply the Touche Eclat right above my cupids bow for a fuller lip appearance. When it comes to contouring the nose I think it is absolutely pointless unless you want to give yourself a fake nose job. Hey if it makes you feel better then do it. But if you have that perfect cute little nose…Leave it alone girl! :)
